View Full Version : Buying a laptop...

Hi everyone, I was wondering if I could get some "constructive" feedback about a potential laptop I am looking at. It's primary use is for my school work and such, but I also want something that I can get to play Lineage 2 with again (for fun as I have no desire to spend a lot as I am still a student. As it is, I only play when I go home for 2 weeks once every 6 months or so right now...).
My technical knowledge isn't exactly vast so any help would be appreciated.

My intention is to order a XPS 1730 with;

- Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T9300 (2.5GHz/800Mhz FSB/6MB cache)
- Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium Edition, English
- 4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
- 250GB 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive Free Fall Sensor
- NVIDIA®GeForce®8700M GT graphics
- Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N

I am also considering purchasing the Kensington SD100S Notebook Docking Station with Stand for it.
Like I said any feedback would help, I have intentions to purchase this Friday.
Looking forward to your input and my thanks again.

Viktor

Dude honestly with that configuration u can play 4 session of lineage, and see 3 movies at the same tine and will be just fine(4GB RAM), if you have a good internet speed, you will play just well (that is if you can play the char well because you don't have to worry about lag with that configuration). ;)

Thanks for the added confidence Roncko!
I needed a little bit of a nudge while making my decision. I was worried about the graphics card, as I honestly didn't want to have to invest in SLI(2 cards)...I checked a little online and found that SLI doesn't do A LOT, it does improve but not required, I can always pick up a card later if I seem to need it. I just want to be able to get back into the game durring some of my free time. I was told SLI is like having a viper or something compared to an average car, it gets you there but not always faster but for a lot more money...
Anyway, I purchased it today, maybe i'll see ya'll in game!
I will be playing Phenoix when my system arrives.
Thanks for the support again!
