Paladin: Good Tank?

Hi everyone, I just started playing L2 and I would like to have some advice on my character. I played WoW and FFXI before and I really liked the Paladin in FFXI. It was the best tank (exept maybe ninja).

I looked at some other forum and I never saw any good info on them.

Is it because they are not really good or there is too much of them?

I you have any other advice for a noob dont hesitate. :)

And is it better to be on a busy server or on a low population server?

Hello & Welcome to the forum Arnath, Honestly i never played WoW or FFXI but im sure alot of people in the forum did.

For lineage, its better to play with a busy server than in a low population server because you will have some difficulty leveling, and you will get bored after you top lvl and dont find someone to pvp or pk :)

You can start your char with Destroyer, Tyrant, Gladiator or Titan,,, These chars are the best tankers i know...

duhhhh paladin is made to tank (ignore arabule, hes a little funny in the head sometimes, i should know, i was in his clan for quite a while :P) i think paladin gets less press than other classes coz its not a great pvp class. but the 4 defensive type fighters (paladin, hell knight, shilien templar and evas w/e) ae the best at taking damadge in the game. the 4 arabule mentions are actually 3^^ and hey tend to dish more dmg than a defensive type kfighter, but tey cant handle it as well (srry to tear ur post apart like that, but........ :P)

Thorgrimm, I agree Paladin, Hell Knight or Shilien Templar have more def Tyrant, Gladiator or Titan but they have less damage as you mentioned, and i never sow Paladin, Hell Knight or Shilien win against Tyrant, Gladiator or Titan.

I have to say that you are wrong here Someone.
Destroyers, Tyrants, Gladiators or Titans are not tanks. They are Damage Dealers (DD's).
Tanks are: Temple Knight (Eva's Templar), Shillien Knight (Shillien Templar), Dark Avenger (Hell Knight) and the Paladin (Phoenix Knight).
The names in the "( ... )" are the names of the 3rd class change.

A real tank is nog someone with much hp, in fact, a tank doesn't even needs much hp as long as his p.def is good. Besides this a real tank has skills to keep the aggro, skills like hate.

Paladins are good characters, exspecially now with their new 3rd class change skills. Don't expect to shine in PvP in the lower levels, or against archers.
