I am not a high level Shillien Knight, but I can tell you some about it, since I watch a lot of pvp movies and read a lot about tanks.
General Information
The Shillien Knight is a pvp/damage based tank. It can molest archers and daggers. Oh yeah, you'll get ripped by nukers because of your low m.def.
The SK is a melee class with some ranged attacks (draining hp/lightning) and with cubics that debuff or do damage/drain.
There is a downside about the Shillien Knight though, it has a low HP and it is hard to level. Besides this they have a natural (Dark Elven) weakness to stun. You can get stunned a lot, and there are a lot of classes that have a stun attack. For example the Paladin and Dark Avenger with their Shield Stun, or archers with their Stun Shots.
Set up
Armor: Majestic adds p.atk, stun resist(!!) and accuracy.
Weapon: For PvP a dle health is fine... But for PvE go for a dama focus.
Tat's: Not really that important for a pvp SK I think, but don't go -dex, since you want to keep your running speed else archers will rip you. Maybe a low +str is good for pvp.
In PvE I would go for a +4/5str -4/5con.

not true, SK ownz mages coz of the curse reflect buff. its major downfall is lack of a stun attack. and if u are scared of being stunned, +con/-str is avaliable.

Nooooo! :) the armor set that I mentioned, it has resist stun for a lot of %'s.

>>>right now i'm grinding my way to save adena for acquiring c-grade weaps and armors.. but is it advisable to skip armors from d-grade to b-grade? cuz what i'm planning to do is to buy c-grade weap first and later, armors. right now we are on interlude, and weaps and armors are limited at this point and i dont know if many equips will show up later in the game's next patches. can u also tell me how to build up my char as the game proceeds? from c-grade equips to b-grade.. thank you guys
What server are you playing and what are the rates ?
I just leveled from lvl 20 to 45 in Death Pass and Dragon Valley but I was fully buffed. The server is 50x.
Anyway, from lvl 20 to 40 you can easily start around Dion and move towards Cruma Tower.
From lvl 40 to 62, you can start from Dragon Valley entrance and walk your way up to Antharas Cave. From lvl 62+, there will be many places to go.
76+ and more might be hard if the rates are low, so I personally go to Monastry of Silence.
I don't recommand skipping C grade, You can however skip B grade or A grade. Because D grade can hardly handle C/B grade mobs. Anyway, you can at least keep your armor D and buy a C grade weapon. Skip the C grade jewels also.

btw im a player from Aria server on L2 SEA..
i had acquired brig set when i was lvl 30, and there are promo weaps that's free to use from lvl 1-25 and right now im still using it though i CAN still use it.. from lvl 20 we also have the d-grade shadow weaps and i still have 13pcs from 15pcs. and later you will also acquire 15pcs of c-grade shadow weaps
what im planning to do right now is to buy c-grade equips.. maybe armors first then later weaps, cuz we have the promo weap and shadow weaps though. we're on interlude at this point and equips from npc's are very limited, like as for a knight the equips that's available for me is only chain mail and composite armors and for the weaps is stormbringer and SoD from the luxury shop in giran. you can only acquire the other armor sets by crafting them, and hunting the required items for a certain weap/armor for you to craft it which is really hard and time consuming. well, as for my experience leveling to become a SK is hard.. but may be worth the while ^^
and what is the best c-grade armor and weap for me based on what i've mentioned? if i can keep my brig set and buy SoD for example, is it capable of handling c/b mobs? what's the best b-grade equips you would recommend for a SK?
thnx again

im also thinking of my SK's sub-class.. what will you recommend for an SK to have? can you explain the subclass as well, with the relation of the subclass to the SK including its weaknesses and advantages.. thanks
Well, Your subclass character has nothing to do with your Base character.
After you reach lvl 76 with your Base class, you can create any subclass you want. Your base character skills have nothing to do with subclass character.
So all you do is save your time from logging out, creating a new character, logging in and transfering 'adena & stuff" from the old one to the new. The best thing about subclass is whatever character you choose, you start from lvl 40.

Well from my "little" experience as a SK both on private and now on Official...can tell you.....the best set for C is Full Plate set and a Samurai sword with Focus is your best bet.....though I'm using mine with Haste cause I solo a lot....about B...go for Doom Heavy all the way and a Kesh or Dama sword.....I know these are not easy but try to get them...about A...Majestic and DLE with health is nice(love this sword...:P)but also you can try Tallum Heavy....looks cool too...if you can't afford to get a Full plate now try to use the composite set for a while....

for our server the best equips for tanks so far are full plate armor (not a set yet) and a sword of delusion. and there's only 3-4 chars that has the FP armor. its really hard to find.. and SoD's really expensive. sigh*
im lvl42 now, a certified SK woohooo!!! thanks for the help.. i think i know more bout SK's now hehe. and im trying to study other chars too.. but right now im gonna focus on my SK first ^^

keep the cubics summoned whenever u intend to go into a fight. as for the other skills, use them to keep mobs/players attacking u(hate) and stop them running away(shackle) the occasional shield bash can really mess up a dagger(wait till later to get this skill tho). besides that, keep things attacking u and keep putting out dmg on enemies(melee with ur sword/blunt). touch of death is an odd skill, i never tried it, coz i found my cast time was too high xD. oh, and if u have LOTS of things attacking u and ur hp is dropping faster than ur healers can handle, or ur hp is critical(the bar flashing) pop a ultimate defence for that little extra survivability. im sure there's lots of other things ppl could add here, but my experience of a SK is on a l2j high rate using an infinity stinger (we were getting powned by mages too much, so i thought id go for a crit silence....) so it is kinda limited.

well im hoping to have a subclass somehow.. i just dont know what will it be for a shillien knight.. im sorry being just a noob here
when i have my subclass, i wanted my shillien knight to be better and acquire new skills for better PvE or PvP.. its just hard to determine which as for a noob like me

stop with the putdowns already, we all start somewhere. ull get better at both pvp AND pve, and the best way to do it is probably to get in a clan. they normally run raid parties, hunting parties and pvp parties, so u can learn that way. and even if u lose the first fights, who cares? at least u know what happened and u see what other ppl do, hell, maybe ull even see another SK at work and be able to pick up tips from them, maybe they'll even spend some time helping u (depends on the player tho)
